Snoop Lion aka Snoop Dogg plans to invest in Pro Soccer Team

Inspired by the Celtic Champions League group-stage upset against Barcelona that made Rod Stewart cry, Snoop Dogg (now Snoop Lion) has decided that he wants to invest in the Scottish champions. Even though he didn’t really watch the match.

Said Snoop to the Daily Record:

“I got a lot of interest in soccer. It’s not a new thing for hip-hop stars to invest in sports teams, but it is a new thing for hip-hop stars to invest in soccer teams.

“I didn’t catch the whole Barcelona game, but I watched the highlights. I know Barcelona are a big deal, and it shows Celtic are a big deal as well.

“I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team, and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell.

“I haven’t really thought how much. I don’t need to run a soccer club but enough of a percentage to get me on the board so I can be heard.

“I want to bring a bit of Snoop to things.

But before you start thinking Snoop is rushing into this decision, know that he was pictured wearing a Celtic shirt in 2005, and he’s already asked his friend David Beckham about the club, who confirmed that “teams don’t come much bigger,” according to Snoop. The rapper-turned-reggae act then added that one of his first orders of business as a member of the Celtic board would be to sign Beckham “for a season,” but he knows that will be difficult since the L.A. Galaxy midfielder is happy in Los Angeles with his family.

And just to prove that he knows the club and has an eye for talent, Snoop added that Georgios Samaras — yes, Georgios Samaras — is his favorite player.

“I like Samaras a lot. He looks like a proper athlete and is a pretty dangerous player. If we are to go far in Europe, he needs to play well.”

Here’s Georgios Samaras looking taken aback by that statement…

To his credit, Snoop has become a fan of the sport in recent years and he’s played a few games of FIFA 13. For his last European tour, he did a series of promotional YouTube videos wearing the shirts of clubs in various cities he stopped in, so he knows that pandering to football fans can be fruitful. But the prospect, no matter how slim, of Snoop and Rod Stewart sharing a tearful embrace at Celtic’s next historic win is an exciting one.

Gucci Mane Says Beef With Yo Gotti Stems From ‘Trap God’ Mixtape Release Date

In MAGAZINE on November 13, 2012 at 2:54 pm

Gucci Mane has been going at everyone in recent weeks. Obviously, everyone’s heard the issues with Young Jeezy, the stab at Yung Joc, and most recently, past collaborator Yo Gotti.

Following a tweet, in which he threw a shot at Gotti, the ATL hip-hop star conducted an interview on Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 radio station where he further explained why he has issues with his Memphis peer, revealing that it all stems from their mixtapes — CM7 and Trap God — dropping on the same day, October 17th.

“I said Gotti was cool with me until he turned into a buster. I never said that we wasn’t cool, I said we was cool until this point right here,” he said during the interview. “My main problem with him was that he dropped his mixtape on 10/17 (the name of Gucci’s record label), and tried to like ride my wave, like he was an artist of mine or we get some kind of money together.

“For an artist to drop they mixtape on 10/17, which is my label on the day I drop all [my projects], why would you drop it on 10/17? When I call you as my partner, to ask you why you did it, you say ‘Oh, I didn’t know you was dropping a mixtape.’ … It just made me lose all respect from him instantly,” Gucci continued.

Despite Gucci’s claim, Yo Gotti said that wasn’t the case. During a separate interview with radio personality Devin Steel on Memphis’ K97, the Tennessee rapper denied that he chose the date intentionally, but simply didn’t realize it.

“It came down to … me and [Gucci Mane] were dropping on the same day. We didn’t know it,” Gotti explained. “I didn’t know it in the beginning. I found out a day or so later, but once I found out — he supposed to be my homeboy — I hit his phone, immediately. He didn’t answer. I told [his camp] to reach out to me; he never reached out to me.

“Last minute, we in the lab, we heard about the tweet — immediately, I hit his phone, like ‘What’s up homie? You good?’ We chopped it up. Long story short, from that point, I realized homie had an issue for whatever reason it was — his free music and my free music coming the same day. I don’t really get it, but on the strength of him being my homie, I’m like cool, I’ll coming out tomorrow.”

Amanda Davis Arrested on DUI Charges

In MAGAZINE on November 12, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Amanda Davis was driving northbound in a southbound lane downtown at 12:30am this morning and hit another car with major damage to both vehicles. The police smelled alcohol on her breath and took her to jail.

Amanda Davis is the Emmy award winning co-anchor for the top-rated FOX 5 News at 6 p.m and 10 p.m. Amanda came to FOX 5 Atlanta in 1986 from WSB-TV, where she was an anchor and reporter.

Her broadcasting career began in Charlotte, North Carolina, with the former NBC affiliate, WRET-TV. During her four years there, she became the main anchor and hosted a weekly magazine show. From Charlotte, Amanda moved on to the nation’s capitol where she worked as the Washington Correspondent for the Satellite News Channel.

But her true labor of love is her work to find permanent homes for Georgia’s foster children. She began the project in 1997 with a series of stories called A Place to Call Home. The Freddie Mac Foundation then approached FOX 5 with the idea of presenting weekly profiles of children available for adoption and Wednesday’s Child was launched in November 2000. In its first year, 32 children were placed in loving homes. Her work with Wednesday’s Child is still going strong and Amanda has been honored for her dedication by the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists and with the Kenan’s Kids Foundation Media Award.

A Magna cum Laude graduate of Clark College in Atlanta, Amanda has been recognized twice by her alma mater with its Distinguished Alumni Award and Community Service Award. Amanda has raised her daughter here and is proud to call Atlanta home.
