FIRST TUESDAYS !!!! With AthFactor Entertainment and Epic Evenings !!!!!

In MAGAZINE on July 16, 2012 at 8:34 pm

First Tuesday is a series of events dedicated to the mature adults of Athens and surrounding counties. These series of mixers will enhance the social scene in Athens while building solid relationships among community members, business owners, young professionals and musicians. The music and entertainment that will be presented will be catered toward this crowd, so you will not hear contemporary top 40 hits, such as Lil Wayne, LMFAO or Nicki Minaj. You also will not have to worry about a dull or boring night out. First Tuesday is intended to create a positive and exciting atmosphere for people who enjoy coming out without the same old bar conversations, same old people or the same old atmosphere that occurs in most bars every night of the week. Everyone willing to have a mature and exciting good time — whether you’re a musician, teacher, nurse, blue collar or white collar — is encouraged to attend. If you are tired of the same old night out at the local bar and want to experience something fresh, check out First Tuesday.

First Tuesday
Aug. 7, Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4
9pm @ New Earth Music Hall
Music by Chief Rock ~ Hosted/Toasted by mon2
Chief Rocka- call him a selector or a spin doctor, but don’t call him a DJ (yet). He believes that moniker should be saved for those who have earned it, such as DJ Kool Herc, DJ Grand Master Flash and DJ Red Alert. Reggie “Chief Rocka” Sykes is not only Northeast Georgia’s best-kept secret, he’s also a husband, father of three daughters and a database administrator. This ex-Marine’s favorite DJs are DJ Grand Theodore Wizard, DJ Qbert and DJ Jazzy Jeff. He’s been studying the art of DJing all his life, but was just able to afford the necessary equipment three years ago. And since that time, he has hit the ground running, studying harder and improving his skills. Chief Rocka ATHFactor Entertainment‘s personal spin doctor and has done countless shows and parties throughout the Southeast.
In February 2006, Chief Rocka, John Vereen, Trav Williams and mon2 all came together to start the company ATHFactor Entertainment. This is where Chief Rocka, Trav Williams and mon2 connected to form an enduring friendship. They went on to host a very popular radio show called Real Talk on the University of Georgia’s radio station 90.5FM. Since then, Chief Rocka has honed his skills working with mon2 as the house selector for Tasty Tuesday (a weekly hip-hop night at Tasty World that ran for three years), Poetic Soul (weekly open mic at New Earth) and various other shows through the years. Both Rocka and mon2 grew up in hip-hop and believe in the preservation of the culture and all of its elements and will do whatever they can to keep it flourishing. These two are working on several projects together: a mix-tape, a blog called Beerhoppers and a fresh stage show. Look out for this combo; they are here to push the envelope, promote hip-hop and present good entertainment. They have a powerful and very entertaining connection, and have no plans on stopping anytime soon. As long as mon2 makes the crowd yell “HIPHOP DON’T STOP,” Chief Rocka will provide the soundtrack. So whether you want to dance/party and shout or just sit back and relax this event is for you and people like you.
